Planetoid 3 is the latest installment in the Planetoid Series, a series of epic space simulation and strategy. In Planetoid 3, the premise is to do whatever in a randomly generated solar system. Choose your race, the neighboring race, and then go out from there. Build buildings, survive many kinds of threats, terraform livable planets, nuke your enemies, or make peace with them, make colonies, survive pollution, create trees, and conquer the solar system! Can you survive? Or will The Planetoid destroy you?

Dwarf Fortress

Dwarf Fortress is, without a doubt, the most seemingly complex simulation game of all time. Most might be turned off by it's simplistic graphics and extremely huge learnign curve, but once those are overcome, the game is limitless. You generate a completely random world, unique landforms, unique history - Everything, and get a group of 7 dwarfs, get materials to embark to a new fortress, and go on from there. You can DO ANYTHING, if you wante to make a huge tower out of diamond blocks in the sky, find the diamonds, make them into blocks. If you build a fortress in a volcano, do that. If you want to break into hell, do that. If you want to protect your fortress from an onslaught of over 100 goblins, do that. If you want to capture all of your enemies in cave traps, remove their limbs, and then make them fight in an arena to the death entirely made by you, do that. If you want an underwater fortress, do that. If you want to build a fortress on supports over a cliff and make it collapse, do that. The possibilities are literally endless. I've added in a link to the wiki, since any hope of learning to play this gem will need to be partnered with assistance.
